Speaker Bio

Luis De Avila is an engineering leader and speaker based in Los Angeles. He has served as CTO, Senior Director of Engineering, and startup co-founder, leading organizations of 30+ across product, engineering, and DevOps for brands including the NFL, Fox Sports, and Activision/Blizzard.

Luis co-founded two companies, including LeapCure, which was accepted into the 500 Startups accelerator. He holds a degree in Philosophy and Ethics from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, which informs his approach to responsible AI and system design.

He currently organizes a meetup community focused on agentic coding and spec-driven development, and has led hands-on technical workshops covering bias in LLMs, privacy, and security. He previously served as a Responsible AI Champion for AI LA and volunteered with Teens Exploring Technology.
